Latest Guidance Link from The Department for Health and Social Care On Visiting Care Homes Safely

Hermes Care Keeping Love Ones Safe

Our ongoing efforts are to continue with your safety and the wellbeing of your loved one. We are writing to you to provide an update. Our joint work between yourself and staff have maintained an extremely low infection rate. We are striving to maintain this position. As you are aware from the media there has been new guidance issued to ourselves on the 22nd July 2020. Please refer to our website where there is an updated position statement and links to useful guidance we are using.

As some of you may be aware we have piloted socially distanced visitation within a couple of our settings. We aim now to provide this in all of our homes and this is being implemented by the following policy:-

  • Visits will only be facilitated in the outside grounds of the care home in designated areas, the only exception where visitation will be allowed within the home, in a residents individual bedroom is when the end of life pathway has commenced. In these circumstances visitation will have to be pre organised and all other precautions would be enforced with the added protection of the home providing full PPE, this must be worn at all times and removed only on exiting the home.
  • A booking system that requires pre planned 1 hour time slots with no more than one family member at a time. We are not able to accept ad hoc visits.
  • You will be required to provide track and trace details on every visit which includes name, address, contact number and a temperature reading prior to the visit starting
  • Family members must bring and wear a face covering ie scarf or a suitable face mask.
  • Social distancing must be maintained at all times

A visit will have to be ended if this is not maintained as the government guidelines stipulate social distancing at all times.

We do appreciate all the efforts you have made during this very hard period but your efforts have kept your loved ones and our residents and staff as safe as possible. This must be a joint effort going forward which will allow these restrictions to hopefully be reviewed and relaxed. We will be posting updates regarding individual homes on our website on visiting restrictions to provide timely information.

In the future to prevent a time lag we will update our website showing the visitation status.

Yours with great thanks
